Sarah Tinoco Araújo, wife of Brazilian politician Thales Machado, spoke publicly after her husband killed their two children and then took his own life.

According to Record, on Thursday, February 12, Thales Machado, who served as Municipal Secretary of Government of Itumbiara, shot his two children, ages 12 and 8.
After attacking the minors, the official took his own life at the family residence.
According to the information released, the crime occurred after he made public accusations against his wife regarding alleged infidelity.

Machado posted those accusations on social media and in a public letter he published shortly before the events.
Authorities stated that the children were attacked while they were sleeping.
The older son died at Hospital Municipal Modesto de Carvalho.
The younger child was transported to another medical center, where he also passed away.

“Nothing justifies the tragedy that destroyed our family. My children were innocent, full of life, dreams, and love. They did not deserve any of this. They were the light of my days, and now I live in the darkness of longing and regret,” Sarah wrote.
